An Insanely Jealous Gaddafi Watches Obama Carefully |
This is not the first time Gaddafi has fallen in love with a US President and each occasion is being met with more severe reprisals as time goes on, Gaddafi it seems, just can't take a hint.
In 1986 US President Ronald Reagan was forced to bomb the Libyan capital of Tripoli when the CIA discovered that Gaddafi had arranged another large floral arrangement to be sent to the President as an expression of his unrepentant romantic feelings for him.
Seeing a public relations disaster emerging quickly and tired of the endless expressions of Gaddafi's love for him, Reagan decided to precision bomb the Interflora shop in Libya and send a clear message to Gaddafi that his advances were unwanted and utterly rejected.
An extremely dejected Gaddafi slithered into the comfort of his palace and refused to come out for years. Guards often reported hearing him weep as he watched re-runs of Reagan's best movies on satellite television. It wasn't until current US President, Barack Obama was elected that Gaddafi suddenly emerged from his reclusive state and fell in love again.
As usual Gaddafi's advances started out as a seemingly innocent crush but gradually increased to an uncontrollable obsession. He began by calling the US President to congratulate him on his election to office. Obama thought nothing of it at the time and thanked Gaddafi for his support.
But then he called again, this time he just wanted to talk about "stuff" - get to know the new leader of the free world a little better. Obama obliged until Gaddafi started asking questions about underwear preferences and other creepy details, then he hung up the phone. But Gaddafi didn't stop there.
His fear of rejection was in full swing and in a panicked state he tried sending heartfelt letters to Obama expressing feelings of a "connection" between them. Obama tried to let Gaddafi down gently, calmly explaining in short correspondence that he did not feel the same way about their relationship. But Gaddafi was insistent.
He sent flowers, he sent chocolates, he even sent a sky writer above the UN Security Council to draw a love heart in the sky but like Reagan before him, Obama ignored these childish expressions of love. That's when the letter sending went into overdrive. First it was one a day, then one every hour, then one every ten minutes. Obama was starting to tire of this charade and refused to reply anymore, hoping Gaddafi would "get the message". But it was too late.
Libyan Rebels became aware of Gaddafi's vulnerable state and staged an uprising against his leadership. Gaddafi was too busy arranging more romantic gifts and pining for Obama to see what was going on. Before he knew it, his guards rushed in and pulled him away from his Obama love shrine and dragged him to the nearest bunker to find a way to quash the rebellion.
Lovesick and forlorn, Gaddafi took his feelings of rejection out on those closest to him, sadly, the Libyan people. He figured if Obama could see that he would even kill to be with him, he would change his mind and come out about their relationship to the international community. But Obama wasn't having any of it.
He organised NATO to strike Gaddafi's forces, hoping to stop the murder of innocent people and let Gaddafi know once and for all that he was NOT interested. And now here we are ... confused about what is taking place ... and Obama unable to explain clearly what this action is for ... and yet the letters keep coming ... the letters keep coming.
